Project Name: Zine's
According to Rookiemag, Zines are "[often times self-published] books, papers, or websites. They usually deal with topics [that are] controversial...But presented in an unpolished layout...Zine-making has been one most popular forms of independent publishing, especially in underground communities...Zines can be anything and everything...Zine-making isn't about rules or knowledge; it's about freedom and [power]." I never knew anything about Zines until Mrs. Alvarez introduced it to me. The zine-making mostly started at the beginning of second-semester, each week Mrs. Alvarez will assign a topic and from there we will have to write, draw, or express ourselves on the paper and be creative with the topic.
Below are some zines I did for my Womyn's Studies Class.
Once we finished our zines, which most of time they were due on the last day of the week of school, we will present our zines to the class. Mrs. Alvarez will gather all the zines together and create a "magazine" or "booklet" of the zines.
